HOW WE GOT HERE—

FAQS

  • We are a pop up style mobile book market featuring gently used copies of popular fiction titles, including fantasy, romance, and mystery. Apricity is owned and operated by two idiots who just love reading, and want to help keep the love of books alive and accessible in our community.

What makes us a little different is that we personally do all the sourcing for our inventory! Whether you’re just starting out and want to pick up something you saw recommended online, or if you’re branching out into a new genre of reading, we try to make sure we’re carrying books that make you go “Oh!! I really wanted to read that!!”

  • We’re just two girls who love reading and want to sell books that make us excited to read. We’re not a massive secondhand retailer that has stock of everything under the sun — we personally do all the sourcing for our inventory. As such, we try to source books that are newer in print, or popular enough that they’re still sought after for collections of any type. If you’re looking for something specific that doesn’t fall into our realm, we’re happy to recommend local places to check or see if it’s something we can help you source!

  • Yes - and no. We really don’t have the space to store excess inventory, and therefore have to be selective about books we can take on donation. If your books are the right fit for our store, we can take them on our credit program!

  • Listen, while we think that kids reading is crucial and encourage young readers to spend time with books, we also feel there are a lot of places that offer those opportunities already in the area. We do not carry children’s books and likely won’t offer them in the future. While we do carry some limited amounts of popular YA fantasy genres, the majority of our book inventory is aimed at older readers. Additionally, some of our merchandise contains profanity and innuendos that might not be considered kid-friendly by your standards.

  • You can view our upcoming markets through our calendar here! Since we’re pop up only for now, make sure you follow us on social media, or subscribe to our newsletter, to stay updated on our upcoming events! We will have monthly markets scheduled following our first launch event on March 15th - if you have a space to host and want to see us in your neighborhood, send us an email!

  • Apricity is a 17th century word meaning “the warmth of sun in winter.” The word is derived from the Latin word ‘apricare’, which means to warm oneself in the sun.

Apricity is an uplifting, hopeful, and calming feeling, just like being warmed by the sun on a day when you're surrounded by cold and clouds.

With our heavy winter darkness and gloomy rain here in the PNW, we felt there wasn’t a better way to describe the feeling we wanted to bring to the community - a moment of hopeful and uplifting warmth surrounded by good books and good coffee when things are feeling a little too dark.

  • Not right now! We may have limited short runs of books available for purchase online for short periods of time, but due to the fact we only have 1-2 copies of most of our books, we aren’t able to host online book sales on a regular basis. We do have a pretty rad selection of stickers and book themed merch available at our pop events and may be able to have those in an online storefront as well in the future! keep an eye out!
